Ready, Set, Goal! I might be crazy but I’ve become hyper-focused about how I set my goals for the future in the past few months. To be honest, every time someone mentions the end of the decade, I freak out, get insanely anxious, and panic. I left a job that made me feel like the farthest thing from myself in pursuit of a dream that I wasn’t quite sure would come true. I’ve learned to let go and to have faith in purpose in order to unleash who and what I’m meant to be. So that brings me to a very important topic: goal-setting.
Now I’m sure everyone has big dreams that they think about non-stop and but I find it important to be specific, intentional, and meaningful when it comes to strategic goal setting. This can be anything from personal goals, business goals, relationship goals, or just surviving life in general goals. The most important point is converting goal setting into goal ACHIEVING while we’re at it. If you haven’t heard of SMART goals before they are a great way to map out your goals in a strategic and achievable way.
Here’s how they work:
Since 2020 is fast approaching, I felt that it was the perfect time to get into this! Spoiler alert: I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. Why? Because they are an artificial way to “restart the clock” when the truth is, the clock never stopped! You have all the power in the world to set and achieve your goals right now, but I understand why the New Year might feel a bit more “motivating”. I mean this to say, you can begin again at any point, not just on January 1. As a human AND a small business owner, goal-setting is the first step in growth and this journey into a life that is intentional and fully a creation of my own.
So, take a look at your life and your interests and more importantly, your dreams! What are some areas of your life that you want to grow in? What are the things you can’t stop thinking about no matter how hard you try? Set goals for those dreams, and fly.
We should all be in a constant reevaluation of our lives and our circumstances and how to make the most of the cards we’ve been dealt. If there’s anything 2019 taught me, it’s that you do not have to stay stuck. You are powerful and can change your current situation into a meaningful and fulfilling one. So for all my goal setters out there, we got this. I wish you the best, and I’ll be cheering you on.
